Michael Morris
Biography
Born in Saltdean, England, in 1942, Morris moved to Victoria, BC, as a child. He studied at the University of Victoria and the Vancouver School of Art before attending the Slade School of Fine Art in London. In 1973, he co-founded the Western Front Society in Vancouver, one of Canada’s most influential artist-run centres. He spent significant time living and working in Berlin as part of the DAAD residency program before returning to Victoria, where he continues to practice and archive the history of the Canadian avant-garde.
